While many embrace the advantages that come along with SaaS, the exposure to potential risks cannot be overlooked. It may lead to dire consequences when you rely solely on cloud storage and services for your business assets. A report published earlier this year on ARN warned that unexpected downtime of either Microsoft, Google or AWS could result in a $19 billion loss for the businesses involved. Outages in the UK and the US are two recent events that put users in a difficult situation when data is only located in cloud locations.

Here are some facts about company\’s and their data practices:

  • Approximately 93{e53893828c6617e55677bd7479ef314f8a2ce1ed1ac821396f95bf0cd992c739} of companies experience an extensive data disaster or loss.
  • On average 96{e53893828c6617e55677bd7479ef314f8a2ce1ed1ac821396f95bf0cd992c739} of companies with backup and disaster recovery plans had the ability to withstand and survive those disasters and ransomware attacks.
  • Unexpected downtime can cost at least $930 per minute to anywhere up to $17,244 per minute.

Keep in mind that Microsoft Office 365\’s default data retention policy is only 30 days. This is way too short of a timeframe for keeping copies of your cloud data.
