One of Janice’s passions, aside from running her IT business, is encouraging and inspiring the next generation of youth to find their own passions. This spring, she has participated in a few events where she shared her journey in the tech industry, showing that trying different things and discovering what you love is a process in which exploration is vital. Janice enjoys these kinds of events because they offer an opportunity for young people to interact with various kinds of career people, kicking off their passion discovery process. Check out what Janice has been up to below!
Women in STEM Meet & Greet: Montgomery High School March 31, 2019
Janice spoke with members of the Montgomery High School Robotics Team about their interests and plans after high school. While representing “technology” in the STEM acronym, Janice was eager to give advice to the students about any interest they have in STEM. She shared stories about how she found Information Technology, memories about her father who was a chemical engineer, and STEM careers she believes will be in demand in the coming years. Advice for the day: try anything that sounds interesting at least once! How will you discover what peaks your interest otherwise?
What A G.I.R.L. Can Do: Heart of NJ Girl Scouts April 13, 2019
The What A G.I.R.L. Can Do event was hosted by the Girl Scouts was all about teaching young girls about the diversity of careers that are possible. Each career woman represented a letter of the alphabet, and Janice represented the letter “C” for CEO. Usually Janice talks about her experience in the tech industry, but as a representative of a business owner and operator, she taught Daisy through Junior level Girl Scouts (ages 5-10) what CEO means, how she built her business, and what she does every day. Many of the girls had never heard of a CEO before! Janice explained that a CEO of a company is kind of like a principal at a school.
